Add Local Area Connection icons to your system tray

Add Local Area Connection icons to your system tray

Instead of right-clicking the Network Places icon and then re-right-clicking your LAN icons - make these icons appear on your system tray area for quicker access to the LAN and protocol settings (such as changing TCP/IP settings).
Follow the next steps:
  1. Right-click an My Network Places on the desktop.
  1. In the Network Connections window - right click the Local Area Connection icon. If you have more than one NIC installed you can do the same for all NICs. Copy By: mr.alshan king
  1. In the Local Area Connection Properties window select the "Show icon in the notification...". Click Ok.
  1. A new icon appears in the tray area near the clock. Right click it and choose Properties to quickly access your network settings.
BTW, each time the NIC is disconnected it will tell you that it is and you will see a red X over the icon.
